Bat Removal Specialists Of Columbus / Dublin Ohio

Pestco Wildlife ~    614-620-7378     24/7 Emergency Bat Removal

Written By Luke Elliott – Owner & Operator Of Pestco Wildlife

We provide homeowners & commercial clients with humane and effective wildlife control services. Keeping animals out of a structure requires animal proofing of the home, which is a common service we provide to people in the Central Ohio cities of Columbus, Dublin, Powell, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Lewis Center, Marysville, and Delaware OH.

We specialize in bat removal, which I go into a little more detail in the article below. I also service residences for other pest control issues including raccoon removal, squirrel removal, groundhog removal, snake & all additional nuisance wildlife problems. I have around 7 years of experience in this expertise business tackling jobs that some would consider impossible.

There are several different posts in this blog, so feel free to scroll down to view info / post of your particular nuisance pest. This article specifically covers the ins – and – outs of bat removal from the attic.

Bat Removal Hilliard Ohio

There are 11 different species of bats found around the central Ohio regions including the Big Brown Bat, Little Brown Bat, Eastern Pipistrelle Bat, Evening Bats, Indiana Bat, Eastern Red Bat, Eastern Small-Footed Bat, Long-Eared Bat, Big-Eared Bat, Silver-Haired Bats, & the Hoary Bat.

Control and removal of nuisance bats is our specialty. No matter the species of bat, the exclusion process remains the same. One-way exclusion valves will be put in place of the bats main entrance. Once that is done the entire house/ building needs to be sealed properly so that bats cannot re-enter. The bats will be allowed to fly out of the structure unharmed. We provide bat control services to churches, commercial buildings, and private property residences.

We service Dublin, Powell, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Worthington, Bexley, Westerville, Marysville, Delaware, and the rest of Central Ohio around Columbus for Bats.

                      #Service We Provide

An important factor to consider before you hire a company to exclude bats is how detailed of a seal-up job they do and type of exclusion materials used. We at Pestco Wildlife use exclusion material with a 35 year manufactory guarantee combined with other high – quality material and advanced equipment. Pestco Wildlife guarantees removal of the bats plus a better warranty & workmanship of an average company in the wildlife control industry.

                     #Bat Biology & Info

Unfortunately many species of bats have been slowly dying off all over North America and some parts of Canada due to a disease known as White Nose Syndrome. The disease was discovered in 2006 around bat caves in New York. The disease affects bats by causing fungal bacteria growth on the bats wings. Up-to-date the disease has killed over 7 million bats. In certain caves the disease has killed 90% of the bats inhabiting them. We at Pestco Wildlife care about the future of bat species and we would never do anything to harm these creatures. Every bat exclusion job must be done with extreme caution not to seal the bats inside the residence. Too many bats have died without the poor judgement of inexperienced amateurs trying to do a bat exclusion. Hire us to ensure the job is done right.

The majority of bats that inhabit Ohio are Big Browns. Unlike most other species, Big Browns hibernate inside of your attic instead of caves. Mounds of bat guano pile up above the bat roost after the bats have infested the home for a prolonged period of time. We have serviced jobs around Dublin, Delaware, Powell, and Marysville where the bat excrement was over a foot deep during an attic remediation. The good thing about Big Browns is they will hibernate in your home over the wintertime thus less effectively spreading White Nose Syndrome (as mentioned in the last paragraph) to each other. Good thing for them- not so good for you. That is why we are here to serve you at a moments notice.

For your own protection, we sternly advise you to steer away from inspecting your own attic/ crawl spaces where the bat waste is located. The bat droppings/ aka feces/waste can be extremely harmful to your health if it has produced any harmful bacterias which are common in bat waste, with histoplasmosis being the most common bacteria growth in bat waste. Removing these bats from homes/ commercial buildings can take a lot of time/labor in the bat exclusion process to ensure the job is done professionally. We can only say that we are the best, but the reality is the consumer can only get a good idea of the type of work that needs to be done by talking with us. Call us today with questions and we will gladly take the time to explain the process of bat exclusion to you. Bat removal around Columbus, Dublin, Hilliard, Marysville, and Delaware Ohio is our specialty. We also own the business name “OHIO BAT CONTROL” along with “Pestco Wildlife” so you can rest assured we know what we are doing when it comes to bats, and we also specialize in attic remediation aka waste clean up.

Main Services Provided Are- trapping of wild animals on residential properties, repair from animal damage, waste clean up and sanitation / attic remediation, bat and bird exclusions, dead animal pickup and sanitation of the area, and deodorizing of attics/ property from skunk spray and dead animals. Below we go into detail of different wildlife control solutions provided to homeowners across Central Ohio.

                                   Trapping

Trapping of wild animals takes skill and professionalism. With our teams skill set there will usually be an animal trapped within the first couple of days. It is best to make an appointment with a wildlife control company as soon as you know there is a critter living on your property because of the damage these animals cause.

Raccoons ~ Raccoons are by far the most destructive pests in america besides certain insects. Raccoons access your attic by tearing open a wall or board that is located on the roof. Once in the attic you will hear noises mostly at night and sometimes during the day. The noises raccoons make are distinct from other animals. Typically you will hear loud thumping, vocal calls, and shredding noises (tearing pieces of insulation.) The damage toll caused by raccoons can be significant and if they are not trapped & removed for an extended period of time you will be paying much more for repairs than trapping fees. Squirrels ~ The main concern of having squirrels in the attic is chewing on electrical wires posing a fire risk. You will mostly hear squirrels during the day, especially in the morning. The noises you hear are quick scurrying, scratching noises, and soft shuffling when they burrow insulation. Skunks ~ These animals are not particularly damaging pests to your home, but they will commonly dig a lot of cone shaped holes in the lawn. Decks & Patios are a skunks favorite place to build a nest. During mating season in February and March we receive a lot of calls from people who had their house sprayed by a skunk. It is best to leave trapping skunks to a professional business unless you have done it before.

Moles ~ Turf damage to your lawn is the main nuisance that moles burden homeowners with. We set highly effective traps in the tunnels where the moles commute back and forth when they are foraging for earth worms and grub. We at Pestco Wildlife trap these animals but also provide a separate service that is optional to the homeowners of placing poisonous worms in the mole tunnels they will consume and die within 24 hours. These worms carry a toxicity level that would only kill a small rodent, so if your dog ate one it would only get sick. We recommend keeping any pets you have inside or/ not letting them near the area where the mole damage is.

Exclusions (providing the animals with a one-way exit)

Bats ~ You will hear the bats mostly at dusk and dawn. The noises are usually described as light scratching and high pitched chirping sounds. Bat exclusions must be detail oriented in order to remove these creatures because they will just find another way inside once the main area has been sealed. Bats will fly around the structure able to hear air drafts coming from the attic or soffits. Hence how they got inside the home in the first place. All bat exclusions come with a warranty to protect you from future infestations. READ OUR FULL BAT REMOVAL ARTICLE BY CLICKING THIS LINK – BAT CONTROL COLUMBUS OHIO

Birds ~ Exclusion netting is placed in the area where the birds are coming in and out of the home. A point of emphasis is sealing any other areas on the house where the birds could re-enter. Waste shed by birds becomes an odor problem and not to mention can be detrimentally harmful to your health by breathing in airborne waste particles. Like bats, all bird exclusions come with a warranty on the areas sealed.

KEYS FOR COMPLETE RACCOON CONTROL PROGRAM-PESTCO

I cover the majority of pest control problems, but I specialize in raccoon, squirrel, skunk, and bat control in Columbus, OH   Dublin, OH Powell, OH  Worthington, OH  Hilliard, OH Marysville, OH Delaware, OH Westerville, OH and the surrounding areas. Nuisance raccoons commonly create entry holes to the attic through a dormer or soffit. Raccoon removal is generally a three step process.

Damage caused by raccoons creates the opportunity for other species to enter as well; birds for example will have easy access to your attic. Trapping and removing the raccoons is the first step. Good communication from customers is important in providing the best service possible.

Sealing the holes where the raccoons gained entry is the second step in providing quality services. Without exclusion work you are just putting yourself at further risk of having another infestation.

More times than not there will be waste left behind by raccoons. I offer waste clean up whenever it is necessary. Usually raccoons will have 1 area where they shed waste. However it is not uncommon for there to be more. Especially if the problem has existed more than     2-3 weeks. Waste clean up/ sanitation is the final step. For the most effective control program all 3 steps should be executed. Raccoon exclusion also comes with a warranty to protect you.
